Angela Mathieson is currently the President and CEO of CentreVenture, the City of Winnipeg’s Downtown Development Corporation. Coupling her Bachelor Degree in Interior Design and her Masters Degree in City Planning, with her passion for community, Angela has played a central role in urban development issues in Winnipeg for the last eighteen years. She held the position of Assistant Deputy Minister of urban affairs for the Province of Manitoba from 2003 to 2006, responsible for urban revitalization programs and financial support to the City of Winnipeg. Her development of legislative and fiscal policies such as Manitoba’s Tax Increment Financing law has enabled demand and supply side incentives for downtown housing, the creation of the SHED, and infrastructure support for the Convention Centre and CentrePort. In 2006 she was appointed Secretary to Cabinet for Community and Economic Development and senior advisor to Premier Gary Doer, leading on major economic development projects. Prior to joining CentreVenture as CEO in 2015, Angela managed her own successful urban development consulting practice in Winnipeg.
