Alex Morrison

Alex has been keenly interest in placemaking, public art and the evolution of urban landscapes since beginning her university career at the University of Winnipeg, after reading about the urban expeditions of William Bunge. She later graduated from University of Manitoba with a Master's degree in urban/ex-urban planning and landscape ecology.

She has incorporated her passion for natural and human-made environments into her previous careers working with Linnet Geomatics, Energy Pathways in Ottawa , and now, settled into the ED role at the BIZ, where she is bringing new placemaking ideas and a unique artistic direction to the streets of Transcona.

In her "other life", Alex is an accomplished photographer/digital artist having been selected Canadian Photographic Artist of the Year, 2009, as well as Manitoba Photographer of the Year 2011, 2012 and 2015. Her works have been displayed as far away as Pingao, China; and as close to home as L’Arche Tove Café in the heart of historical downtown Transcona.

Alex also won the Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2007.
